Who We Are What We Do Meet Our Board Meet Our Staff Allies & Partners From the Director
From the Director

It has been a summer for the Land Trust.   We are working on several projects that by year end will protect at least another 1200 acres.  We continued the restoration of Cedar Creek in June.  Willows that were just 2 foot sticks in the mud with no leaves are now 10 feet tall!  We have also been doing some exciting restoration at the Kackley Preserve.  Sign up for our newsletter and learn all about it in the September newsletter.  We also held our annual fundraiser in July and raised over $6000. We completed a project that protects 435 acres near Franklin, Idaho.  The beautiful property sits above the north end of the Cache Valley and harbors important riparian habitat along Deep Creek and upland habitat frequented by elk and mule deer.  An important element of the project is the public access we established to the United States Forest Service land and the Mt. Naomi Wilderness Area.

The property was purchased by the Land Trust in partnership with the Bear River Hydroelectric Project’s Environmental Coordinating Committee, a stake holder group that approves expenditure of PacifiCorp Energy hydro project environmental enhancement funds dedicated to improving water quality and native fish populations along the Bear River in Idaho.

In the short term, the Land Trust will hold the property in fee title ownership.  Longer term, we are exploring options such placing a conservation easement on the land that will be held by the Land Trust, and selling the property to a conservation buyer.   This option would not affect the public access, and would ensure the conservation values are protected in perpetuity.
