Become a Volunteer To succeed, Sagebrush Steppe Regional Land Trust needs active volunteers to strengthen the heart, mind and backbone of Land Trust- in short, SSRLT will only continue to grow and thrive with the help of dedicated volunteers. Volunteering is work, but it is also a chance to meet new people, to socialize, to spend time on the preserves and to actively engage in protecting the special places and way of life across Southeastern Idaho.
Let us know you’d like to volunteer by contacting Joselin at (208) 241-4662 or email joselin.matkins@sagebrushlandtrust.org. Include your name, the type of volunteer work you are interested in and any other information you’d like to share, e.g., interests or skills. Over the next year, we have volunteer opportunities ranging from conservation easement monitoring and habitat restoration to membership development and event planning. WE NEED YOUR HELP!
Events
These include our annual meeting held in late spring or early summer, or spring and summer property tours, our fly fishing tour this summer, and other special events or fundraising events.
Office help
The SSRLT only has 1 staff but we do the work of many more thanks to our volunteer corps. Come join Joselin a few hours every week. If you are a detail-oriented person who enjoys working with the public, you may want to be an office volunteer. Office volunteers help provide information and sign-up for special events, write thank you notes and assist with other office tasks.
Special projects volunteer
Join the staff to complete special projects, typically in the SSRLT office. If you like variety and enjoy taking a project from inception to completion, you may want to be a special projects volunteer.
Stewardship
Become a Steward. Land Stewards help with conservation easement monitoring, habitat restoration projects, archiving photographs, creating property maps, and conducting species and habitat inventories.
Outreach
Represent the SSRLT at community events by Setting up and staffing information tables for events.
Mailings
Several times a year, volunteers get together to catch up on life, what’s happening in the community, and ’ oh yeah ’ stuff envelopes and newsletters for the SSRLT mailings.
